Disillusioned with dating websites
When I took my first tentative step into the world of online romance I had just come out of a seven-year relationship and was looking forward to meeting a man who made me feel special.
So I handed over my money to a dating site for professionals and waited.
I managed to make my own way back to England but it took this horrible situation with someone I barely knew to make me finally see sense.
The next day I got an email saying we were not a match. There are five women to every man on these sites so even the most unremarkable men start to believe they are David Beckham.
I found it easy to translate: “Sorry honey but you’re far too old.” I felt humiliated. I have lost count of balding blokes in their late 50s and 60s who won’t consider dating a woman over 40.
They described themselves as thoughtful, honest, caring and fun.
I have subscribed to top matchmaking sites, gone on many disastrous dates and ended up shell-shocked and disillusioned.
In online dating terms, at 48 I am considered ancient.
Lesson number two: don’t believe everything you read.
How do some women manage to always look perfect and put together.
What is your/their secret to always having clear skin, fresh hair, staying in perfect shape, clothes, nails etc.
